A good excuse, in our view, has three qualities: plausible enough to be technically believable, vague enough to be unfalsifiable, and formal enough to suggest that the person giving it takes the situation seriously, even if they do not.

Each generated excuse comes with a plausibility rating ranging from "Moderate" to "Ambitious." We do not offer a rating below "Moderate" because we believe all our excuses are, on reflection, plausible to someone.
